Built in 1922 by a local businessman, Alfred DiBella, the theater featured 1300 seating, a second floor dining and dance ballroom. The ownership was then transferred to his daughter, Frances DiBella, who was behind the popcorn counter every night for more than fifty years. In 2004, Frances’ nephew, Michael Heagerty, embarked on an extensive renovation of the theatre including The Palace Café which is now The Cracked Bean Roastery. Today, under the management of Skinner Businesses, the Palace Theatre is not only an event and entertainment venue, but a gathering place for the Eastwood community in Syracuse, New York.
