Italian Wannabe - Film by Steve Dabal
August 29th - Showtime 7pm - Doors 6pm- Q&A - 8:30pm
In a quiet village nestled in the Italian countryside, a celebrated Los Angeles chef begins again, not to escape his past, but to taste life again.
Bill Disselhorst and his wife Anne built Fiore Market Café into a beloved institution in Los Angeles, known for its tight-knit community and iconic fresh bread. Just as it was named one of Yelp’s Top 100 Restaurants in America, the café was sold.
Years later, Bill returns to Casperia, the medieval Italian town where their love of food first took root. There, he embraces a slower rhythm: hand-kneading dough, sharing meals with neighbors, and rediscovering the quiet bonds that remain when everything else falls away.
Told through intimate vérité, poetic interludes, and textured portraits of Casperia’s residents, Italian Wannabe is a lyrical meditation on human connection, the search for belonging, and the quiet rituals of a really good meal.

DOUBLE FEATURE - Dibernardo Productions Presents: EXscaped & UnRaveled: The Prelude to EXscaped
DOUBLE FEATURE - Dibernardo Productions Presents: EXscaped & UnRaveled: The Prelude to EXscaped
Veronica is being held responsible for an incident that occurred in her small town, but it's worth questioning whether she's solely to blame for what happened in her twenties, which sent her over the edge. She suffers from PTSD along with dissociative amnesia which causes severe memory blocks without medication. For years she sought out counseling with Therapist Speaks but always found herself in toxic situations. Despite taking her medication for years, having a successful career and being newly engaged, Veronica runs into trouble with the law after something triggers her to start drinking again. But why when they should have been celebrating. Her fiancé is not the man she fell in love with as she finds out at his job after trying to surprise him after a fight. Veronica ends up at Left Behind Mental Asylum where she is mistreated while being taunted by Nurse Assistant Moore. Nurse Assistant Moore seems to have a sick obsession with Veronica and makes her noticeably uncomfortable. Not surprising as this, Mental Asylum should have been shut down 20 years ago.
She has been able to avoid taking responsibility in many situations by escaping. Although she returns home after being called back by Kelly and the help of an old childhood friend, Billy who was driving by to bring her there. Struggling to stay out of trouble in her small town, where everyone sees her as Crazy V from her traumatic situation from years prior still taunts her. Being off her meds has never been good for Veronica and her binge drinking was no help as she can not mix her meds with alcohol.
Veronica finds herself on the run until she mistakenly lands at the wrong house, where she can't seem to escape. A man DJ leads her to believe they are engaged and nurtures her back to health after finding her on his dock one morning. She realizes that she's being held against her will by being sedated and is made to believe that she belongs there but something is warning her to get away from the house.
Unraveled: The Prelude to EXscaped - 1 Hr 0X Min Runtime
Emerging from a childhood marked by domestic violence, abandonment, and trauma, Veronica endures amnesia and psychiatric care before facing her greatest test yet — caring for her ailing mother — while finding her voice and healing through the power of filmmaking.
Veronica's story is one of resilience, perseverance, and hard-won hope. From a young age, she witnessed domestic violence at home, and when her father abandoned the family, she became the caretaker for her younger sister Kelly, both of them carrying wounds they were too young to name. With their mother chronically ill, Veronica was robbed of a childhood.
The challenges followed her into adulthood. After a traumatic event at her first college party, Veronica was diagnosed with dissociative amnesia — her mind's way of protecting her from memories too painful to hold. Rather than surrender, she sought help, eventually spending time at Left Behind, a psychiatric facility where she worked alongside therapists and counselors to confront her past and begin reclaiming herself. Through that process, her mother — despite her own illness — remained a steadfast source of support.
Slowly, Veronica rebuilt. She pursued filmmaking, channeling her experiences into work that gave voice to others who had suffered in silence. Her platform became a place of advocacy, shining a light on mental health and the courage it takes to ask for help. She continued her own treatment, never pretending the journey was finished.
Veronica's story refuses to let the past have the final word. It is a testament to the strength of the human spirit — proof that even after the darkest chapters, there is still the possibility of authoring something beautiful.
Double Feature Schedule:
Doors Open: 6:30 PM
Opening Remarks: 7:00 PM – 7:15 PM
EXscaped: 7:15 PM – 9:00 PM
Intermission: 9:00 PM – 9:15 PM

CANCELLED by Promoter - Legends Revisited Presents: Simply Queen Live Tribute
Due to circumstance beyond our control the promoter has decided to cancel Simply Queen. Simply Spectacular! In SYRACUSE!
Please reach out to the promoter directly, Legends Revisited - legendsrevisited01@gmail.com - regarding your ticket purchases.
You may also go to the website you purchased your tickets through for assistance - https://ticketscene.com/events/57681/
Please know that all of us here at The Palace Theatre are very disappointed with this news. We work hard to put together a schedule of events that has a little something fun for EVERYONE. When things like this happen, it can be deflating. When we booked Simply Queen at The Palace Theater a year ago, we had no way of knowing two other theaters in our vicinity were going to do the same thing. We ended up with 3 different Queen tributes playing within a month of each other, which just isn't sustainable in a city this size. The promoter for Simply Queen informed us yesterday they were cancelling The Palace Theater show on April 18th due to low ticket sales 😕.
We spent the day feeling depressed, defeated and frustrated. This isn't the first time this has happened to us.
An event cancellation is devastating to us, and we do everything in our power to avoid that from happening!
Moving forward it is our intent to start an open dialogue with the other theaters in the area, so we can be aware of what the others are doing. Before we book another tribute act, we intend to check in with them in an effort to make sure they aren't doing the same thing. We are all on the same team essentially and we need to try and help each other out, instead of cutting each other's throats.
We apologize sincerely to all who have purchased tickets to an event we were all very much looking forward to.
Please don't lose faith in The Palace Theater! We are always working so hard to make these shows happen and will continue to do so!Presented by Legends RevisitedThe Palace Theatre • 2384 James Street • Syracuse, NYDoors Open: 7:00PM | Show Starts: 7:30PM EDT | All Ages / LicensedIt's North America’s most adored recreation of Queen - the magic and the music. Friday, April 10th - 7pm - Doors at 6pm - (Action Fest)
We ease into things on Friday night with a special 35mm screening of the 1987 cult classic Masters Of The Universe. Considered a failure upon its initial release, it has since grown a significant cult following over time. The first live action He-man movie retains a legacy today as they are preparing to release a reboot this year. A perfect time to revisit the original. This will be followed by a rare, secret 35mm film that is so secret, even we don't know what it is! Nor will we until April 10th! How exciting!

Always popular, never out of vogue, Godzilla is also enjoying another resurgence with the recent Godzilla: Minus One and upcoming Minus Zero films. Saturday, April 11th - 6pm to 9:30pm - (Night Pass)
Saturday night things really start to get far out! A beautiful looking 35mm print of Jason And The Argonauts (1963) will take us on a faraway journey where we meet fantastic creatures and epic battles. This was a groundbreaking film when it came out, and it is still very exciting and impressive today. Do not miss this opportunity!
Project Moonbase will take us back to 1953 for a sci-fi space adventure, written by the well-known author Robert Heinlein. This one has a slightly feminist edge for its time, showing women in positions of power and authority.
Closing out the night with one of the most respected and revered sci-fi movies ever made, The Day The Earth Stood Still is an undeniable masterpiece! Directed by the maestro Robert Wise in 1951, this film ponders a scenario where aliens come to Earth in peace and wisdom, and how humans react to this. It shows the range and depth of our national paranoia that was in full swing during this Cold War era and questions our ability to live in peace as a race. Strong, impactful stuff!

Slightly under the radar when initially released in theaters in 1988, this unconventional "Christmas" movie is now considered to have singlehandedly revitalized the action movie genre, and made an absolute superstar out of Bruce Willis.
Come see it the way it was meant to be seen, and just in time for the Holidays!"
